Karnes County Public Access
Start with the official county Public Access portal for public jail and court records: portal-txkarnes.tylertech.cloud/PublicAccess/default.aspx. If the portal requires a browser session or does not show the record, use the sheriff phone, VINELink, or the county Public Information Act request process.
Public Information Requests
Karnes County accepts Public Information Act requests for existing records through the County Attorney's Office, 101 N. Panna Maria Ave., Suite 302, Karnes City, TX 78118. Email requests may be sent to public.records@co.karnes.tx.us. The county states that it responds within ten business days and that the Texas Public Information Act does not require a government body to create new records, perform research, or answer questions.
Use the route that matches what you need:
- For a person in the local county jail, use jail inmate records, the Karnes County Public Access portal, the sheriff's non-emergency number, and VINELink.
- For booking photos, use jail roster mugshots, then request an existing booking photograph by Public Information Act request if it is not visible online.
- For charges filed after booking, use court records after a jail arrest, Public Access, the County Clerk, District Clerk, County Attorney, or 81st Judicial District Attorney.
- For a local facility, use Karnes County Jail, Karnes County Detention Facility, or Karnes County Immigration Processing Center.
- For a sentenced Texas prisoner, search the Texas Department of Criminal Justice inmate locator. TDCJ says its online information is updated on working days and is at least 24 hours old.
- For a federal sentenced prisoner, use the BOP Inmate Locator. For a federal pretrial or U.S. Marshals detainee at 810 Commerce Street, call the Karnes County Detention Facility at (830) 780-3525.
- For ICE custody, use ICE ODLS or call the Karnes County Immigration Processing Center at (830) 254-2000. Research notes list detainee inquiry hours as 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Sunday, and ICE supervisory contact as (830) 254-2500.
- For custody alerts and victim notification, use VINELink, which the Karnes County Sheriff's Office links for offender custody status.
